Specialty Rulers – We love them!
I have made no secret out of the fact that I hate cutting. I always want to get right into the sewing of any project. I remember Home Economics class and the drudgery of cutting out our patterns before making our stylish aprons. Now, I admit that cutting for a quilting project is usually not nearly as tedious as garment sewing, but it’s still not my favorite thing to do. Consequently, I am always looking for ways to make this necessary step easier.
We all know that precision cutting, precision pressing, and perfect ¼” seams are vital to creating a work of art. One time, early on in my quilting experience I zipped right through a flannel, rag quilt, thinking I’d eyeball it. That quilt was for my husband, who would never criticize a gift, but honestly, I’m ashamed for anybody to see it. Square? I don’t think so!
Then the happy day came when I was introduced to specialty rulers! Wow, what a life changer. My first, favorite was Creative Grids Trapezoid ruler. We happily used this ruler in quilt show demonstrations for several seasons, always selling as many as we could stock. Our favorite pattern is Braids on Parade from Far Flung Quilts.
